چکیده

Konstantinos Daniilidis and J org Ernst Computer Science Institute, Kiel University Abstract During a camera motion with arbitrary translation and xed axis rotation a vanishing point traverses a conic section on the image plane. The intrinsic parameters of the camera can be obtained from the coe cients of the conic. Special care is given to the propagation of the error covariances and the elimination of the statistical bias in conic tting.

A new camera calibration method from vanishing points in a vision system

The problem of finding intrinsic parameters of a camera is extremely important for practical applications. In this paper, we present an approach for automatic estimation of intrinsic parameters from images by using the vanishing points in orthogonal directions. Firstly, image lines are extracted and clustered into groups corresponding to three dominant vanishing points. Secondly, the intrinsic ...

Geometry of Vanishing Points and its Application to External Calibration and Realtime Pose Estimation

Vanishing points of an image contain important information for camera calibration. Various calibration techniques have been introduced using the properties of vanishing points to find intrinsic and extrinsic calibration parameters. This paper revisits the vanishing points geometry and suggests a simple extrinsic parameter estimation algorithm which uses a single rectangle. The comparison with t...

Intrinsic Camera Calibration Based on Radical Center Estimation

Camera calibration is an important step in obtaining 3D information from 2D images. Vanishing points of parallel lines have proven to be useful features for selfcalibration task. Most tasks using vanishing points estimate parameters using three orthogonal vanishing points (OVPs). However, in a real scene it is hard to find views that capture a scene including three OVPs. Fortunately, in many su...

Self-Calibration of a Camera from Video of a Walking Human

Analysis of human activity from a video camera is simplified by the knowledge of the camera’s intrinsic and extrinsic parameters. We describe a technique to estimate such parameters from image observations without requiring measurements of scene objects. We first develop a general technique for calibration using vanishing points and vanishing line. We then describe a method for estimating the n...

Semiautomatic 3-d Model Extraction from Uncalibrated 2-d Camera Views

Scenes that contain every-day man-made objects often possess sets of parallel lines and orthogonal planes, the projective features of which possess enough structural information to constrain possible scene element geometries as well as a camera's intrinsic and extrinsic parameters. In particular, in a scene with three mutually orthogonal sets of parallel lines, detection of the corresponding th...
